Berkeley County Commission meeting, Berkeley County, West Virginia, October 15, 2026. The commission heard that the Development Drive water main project is out to bid, with bids scheduled to open November 23, and that bids for the roadway water-main relocation at the CMC entrance are scheduled to open November 3. The water board also reported ongoing work to improve water supply and system capacity. Separately, the Roundhouse Authority reported placing $40,000 of insurance proceeds from the Miller Tower fire into a certificate of deposit and depositing about $10,000 into an interest-bearing account; its foundation voted to transfer $17,000 of approximately $22,000 to the authority. A $75 fee per group of up to 18 people was introduced for offseason special tours.

The commission approved tax exonerations and a property-consolidation application, then approved the Sheriff’s Office request to replace one sworn deputy position with a civilian evidence technician who would also support crime-scene work. The change moves the roster from 73 to 72 sworn positions and transfers the position between sworn and civilian budget accounts; officials described it as budget-neutral, with an estimated technician cost of $80,590 compared with $81,606 for a deputy, depending on benefits. The motion passed. Commissioners also discussed the proposed Valley Link transmission route, for which public meetings are planned, but no route decision or related procurement action was reported.
