The Hampshire County Board of Education meeting on August 10, 2026, included several spending and facilities updates. The superintendent reported that paving and excavation for a parking area at Cambridge Elementary had been completed through a community effort: the school contributed $5,000, and the County Commission provided the remaining funds. The board also authorized the finance office to pay necessary bills due between August 8 and September 14 to avoid late fees, with checks to be presented later for ratification. The personnel consent agenda was approved, including an addition to the supplementary salary schedule that would raise a speech-language pathologist’s supplement to $6,000 upon certification. No new vendor award or contract approval was identified. A possible activity bus arrangement was being discussed with the County Commission, and a proposal for funding auditorium repairs was to be developed after assessing the damage; neither was approved at this meeting.

The board approved the final reading of Policy 3080 and deleted Policy 3081. A proposed revision to Policy 2371, covering Hope Scholarship and other nonpublic students’ participation in county school classes and activities, was presented for review; the discussion covered phased payments and tiered extracurricular fees, but no adoption vote was recorded. A representative of HOS Health Center also described its school-based behavioral health services and prior agreements with the district, without a new contract action. The superintendent noted that funds for ongoing projects, including lighting and other improvements, were being spent quickly and that a public accounting of their uses was planned.
