Prosper ISD Board of Trustees meeting, August 24, 2026: The board held a public hearing on the proposed 2026–27 tax rate. Staff explained that the proposed rate was $1.2011 per $100 of taxable value, with the maintenance-and-operations component decreasing from $0.7141 to $0.7011. Although the statutory comparison shows an estimated $3.9 million (2.3%) increase in the M&O levy, staff attributed it to growth in taxable property values and clarified that the district’s state aid would also increase. The board approved the M&O and interest-and-sinking tax rates, 7–0.

The board also approved, 7–0, the district’s Option 3 agreement to purchase attendance credits and delegated related contractual authority to the superintendent. Staff said this direct payment to the Texas Education Agency fulfills state-mandated Chapter 49 recapture obligations; the prior-year payment was about $1.2 million, and future payments are projected to rise. The superintendent provided updates on newly opened schools and ongoing construction at Watkins Middle School and the administration building, but no construction contract awards or vendor selections were presented.
