Planning and Design Commission 10/12/2023

The City of Sacramento Planning and Design Commission meeting on October 12, 2023, included a public hearing on a conditional use permit for Towny Bar at 710 K Street. A commissioner moved to approve staff’s recommendation, another seconded, and the motion passed. The Director’s Report noted that City Council had approved the Stone Beatland plan unit development in South Sacramento. The commission also reviewed preliminary recommendations from the city’s Missing Middle Housing Study, covering proposed housing districts and unit limits, building and open-space standards, floor-area-ratio incentives, affordability bonuses, ownership opportunities, and displacement protections. Commissioners and a public speaker offered feedback on density, historic preservation, approval processes, affordability, and equity; staff will use that feedback in developing final recommendations for later commission and council review. The study referenced work by consultants, but no procurement decision was made at this meeting.
