The City of Sacramento Planning and Design Commission meeting on January 25, 2024, included two conditional use permit approvals: the Thomas Bottle Shop, for off-premises alcohol sales, and an H Mart grocery store at 6366 Mack Road. The commission also continued an earlier item to its February 8 meeting. No contracts, vendor selections, bid approvals, procurement spending, or capital project awards were identified.

The commission voted to recommend that City Council adopt the 2040 General Plan and Climate Action and Adaptation Plan and certify the Master Environmental Impact Report. Discussion focused on the Natomas Basin study area, transit-oriented development and proposed restrictions on new drive-throughs near high-frequency transit, and EV charging requirements for new or expanded gas stations. The commission’s motion passed with requests for further consideration of flexibility around planned transit areas and language addressing EV charger reliability. The director also noted that the 2024 planning and zoning work program was scheduled for Council approval on February 6, and the commission’s 2023 annual report for committee review on February 13.
