The Healthy Neighborhoods Advisory Committee met on October 14, 2026, to review summer outreach and discuss redesigning the neighborhood grant program. Members discussed plans for four neighborhood meetings in November to gather residents’ and community organizations’ input on neighborhood strengths, challenges, service gaps, and funding needs. Staff plans to provide food, preferably from local caterers in each neighborhood; the committee also discussed interpretation, particularly Spanish-language access. The program budget is limited, and interpretation costs were not resolved. Staff will coordinate meeting dates and outreach, collect feedback in December, and develop potential program and funding models for the following year. No grant awards or procurement approvals were made.

Staff also reported learning from the City of Madison’s grant RFP process, including service-area solicitations, qualitative scoring criteria, and letters of intent. The committee expressed interest in considering those practices in the local redesign; further review is expected next year. The committee unanimously approved the prior meeting minutes. Summer events—including community meals, food and school-supply distributions, and a farmers market—were reviewed, with members recommending clear takeaways to guide future events.
