The City of Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Commission met on October 14, 2026. Staff reported that the department’s prior-year revenues were up and that it stayed within its expenditure budget despite approximately $200,000 in unexpected expenses. Sportscom received commission approval for the Tippy Toes youth dance program, with an $80 monthly fee and a 70/30 fee split. The commission also approved revisions to park food-truck rules: vendors must reserve and obtain a permit, with a warning for a first violation and escalating suspensions for later violations; daily reservations would no longer be offered at Richard Seigel Soccer Complex, McKnight Park, or Barfield Crescent Park, though event use remains possible. The rules are intended to improve compliance and manage vendor activity in parks.

Staff reported that a $100,000 accessible playground swing is funded by a Tennessee Department of Health HEART grant, with installation planned around Miracle League’s 10th anniversary in April. Additional anniversary improvements, including picnic tables and facility touch-ups, may be supported through a sponsorship package to be shared later; the city has already funded the field, and a grant is supporting additional playground equipment. Old Fort Golf Course reported more than $3 million in gross income for 2026 and a small surplus in the prior fiscal year. The department also extended pavilion rentals year-round as a service and revenue measure. No contract awards or vendor selections were reported.
