The Long Beach Unified School District Community Advisory Committee (CAC) met on October 13, 2026. District special education staff and committee members discussed disability awareness and the differences among accommodations, modifications, and special education program settings. The presentation emphasized how placement and course choices can affect students’ diploma eligibility, college and career pathways, access to high school electives, and transition services. Families were encouraged to ask IEP teams about supporting data and the effects of proposed changes on students’ postsecondary goals. Staff also reviewed the new eighth-grade transition-planning page in IEPs and announced a student-led IEP workshop for November 9 at Renaissance High School.

A member raised a public comment about making extended-learning programs accessible to students with disabilities, including students with ADHD and autism; the transcript does not capture a district response. The committee also announced a December bylaws review related to the Greene Act. No contract awards, bids, vendor selections, budget allocations, or other procurement activity were identified.
