The City of Webster Groves Arts Commission met on October 14, 2026, to review artist submissions for utility-box artwork. After evaluating submissions for creativity, artistic merit, technical proficiency, outdoor experience, and fit with specific locations, the commission voted to recommend four designs. Identifiable selections included Emily James’s “Five Groves” for Brentwood and North Elm and Amy Miller’s design honoring the Webster Groves Women’s Garden Club; the other recommendations included designs for the Webster University campus and Brentwood and Newport. The motion carried with no opposition. No contract amounts were discussed.

The recommendations have been sent forward for review, with Public Works sign-off still needed before the work proceeds. Staff are preparing contracts for each of the four artists, using a draft adapted from a City Museum contract and subject to any requested changes. For a future round of artwork, commissioners supported asking artists to resubmit rather than carrying forward old submissions, since artists’ work or interest may change.
