At its October 12, 2026 meeting, the Social WCS Board of Education received a presentation on the Westerville City Schools state report card. The district retained an overall 3.5-star rating; reported measures included an achievement performance index of 89.4, four stars for gap closing, and two stars for college, career, workforce, and military readiness. Presenters discussed graduation rates of 93.1% for four years and 96.3% for five years, chronic absenteeism, and how state benchmarks count assessments, course credits, credentials, and work-based learning. They noted that the readiness rating reflects lagged data and that state rules and measurement methods can affect results.
Staff described efforts to expand student pathways, including a proposed teacher academy, existing pre-apprenticeship programs with 19 students enrolled, and plans to develop a process for recognizing students’ work-based learning toward school credit. The discussion also covered barriers to earning readiness benchmarks, including test fees, course scheduling, and documentation requirements, as well as changes to attendance measures. No procurement activity, contract or bid decisions, spending votes, or specific budget allocations were identified; no motions or votes were reported.
