The New Castle Town Board’s work session and meeting on October 13, 2026, included an update on the 50 North Greeley (former Rite Aid) project. The supervisor signed the site plan after approval conditions were deemed complete; the applicant still must meet 17 building-permit conditions, including refining its construction schedule and cost estimate and obtaining outside-agency approvals. A preliminary construction period of approximately 18 months to two years was discussed. The board also heard that the Metro-North trenchless water-main crossing is ready to go out to bid. Separately, the Route 120 pedestrian bridge project remained on schedule, with completion dependent in part on fabrication of the bridge deck and a target date of November 30.

The board unanimously approved consent-agenda items 2–25, including multiple purchasing and contract actions: nine fire hydrants for $40,854; a $10,400 change order to Woodard and Curran for additional Bedford Road pump-station construction inspection; a water-department Ford F-150 from VanBortel Ford for $40,712.35; police holsters for $8,496.77 and ammunition for $10,566.48; and holiday lighting from the Christmas Lighting Company for $22,750, the low bid. Other approved actions included the DPW 2026-06 sidewalk snow-removal contract (the transcript gives no award amount or vendor), extensions for JR Tours and the residential collection contract (a 3.85% increase under a three-year term with two one-year extension options), an extension of the Logically IT contract ($108,079.80 for support, $33,198 for cybersecurity and monitoring, and $16,668.12 for a third component), $20,000 in additional IWorks Systems services, and purchases of Town Hall carpet ($36,236.26), police-bathroom tile ($14,519.21), and two Greybar code-blue emergency call stations ($10,056.06) through Omnia Partners. The board also retroactively approved payments of claims totaling $398,057.09 and $2,007,888.65. No contract or bid amounts were specified for several other approved items.
