The City of Gary Redevelopment Commission met on October 14, 2026. The commission reviewed proposed budgets for its tax increment financing (TIF) districts, but voted to table Resolution 7754 until October 28 for further consideration. The budget presentation included proposed spending on public safety, professional services, and capital projects; among the items discussed were $700,000 for Lakefront TIF professional services, $100,000 in professional services and $400,000 in capital outlay for a parking lot, and proposed capital allocations for other districts. Staff also described TIF debt obligations and plans to notify developers when district revenue is insufficient to cover debt service. Prior studies by Vickerman Associates and Wolffort were expected to be presented in November.

The commission approved Resolution 7755 authorizing payment to Lake County Circuit Court for the acquisition of 47 Broadway; the transcript cites both $350,000 and $361,400, so the final amount is unclear. It approved Resolution 7756 to accept city-owned properties for the Growing Gary land-disposition program and approved Resolution 7757 authorizing a $467,143.75 paving contract near the Massive Town Homes development. Commissioners also approved permission to draft RFPs for properties in the Small Farms neighborhood. A developer, Calendar Properties, expressed interest in acquiring city property to build homes, but no award or disposition was made; staff was asked to continue discussions and report back. The commission also approved claims.
