The City of Gary Board of Public Works and Safety met on October 14, 2026. It unanimously approved advertising for contractors for the emergency private-property blue-roof program following storm damage; publication was planned for October 20 and 27, with work to be completed by November 30, 2026. The board also approved a two-year initial RFP for catering services at Marquette Park Pavilion, with proposals due October 30. Approved service and project agreements included Fidelity National Title Company (up to $197.75 per parcel for title-related services), USANA Development LLC (not to exceed $65,000 for HUD/CDBG compliance support), Target Solutions/Vector Solutions ($17,588.60 for 12 months of firefighter training software), ACCI ($25,184.50 for paving at the Gleason Park driving-range pathway), and Aptim Environmental (not to exceed $6,470, subject to verification of funds). The Complex Network Solutions agreement was also approved, but its amount is garbled in the transcript; the ConnectWise agreement was approved, though its stated amount is likewise unclear.
The board approved a $125,000 contribution from Hard Rock Northern Indiana LLC toward renovations to the Gary Fire Department training facility; a comment noted that the matter would also need to go before the City Council. It approved a Lake County JAG interlocal agreement providing $43,129.32, with a city match of $12,164.68. An amendment to the city’s Midwest Electrical contract was tabled for further discussion. The board also ratified $970,385.82 in claims and approved $294,566.54 in claims for payment. All recorded approvals were unanimous among the three members present. Public comment raised concerns about damage to native plants on Lake Street, but no board action was recorded.
