The Eastpointe City Council regular meeting was held October 13, 2026. Council approved a three-year street-lighting special assessment of $56.25 per parcel annually to cover electricity, existing light-related loan payments, and installation of additional streetlights. It also approved extending the antenna lease with SBA Monarch Tower III LLC at 19400 Stevens Drive, purchasing a 2028 Freightliner dump truck and outfitting for $267,104, and purchasing a Lanco light-tower generator for $37,915. The council approved bills totaling $6,337,833.55. The city manager reported that requests for proposals are out for city planning services and fire-station egress work, with additional RFPs anticipated; road, streetscape, and police-building construction projects are also underway or progressing.

Council discussed the Sewer Line Assurance Program, which has an accumulated deficit of about $800,000. Options included increasing the monthly fee from $6 to $7 while ending landscaping restoration coverage, or increasing it to $9 to retain that coverage. No program change was approved: the council unanimously tabled the item until its next regular meeting, directing the finance director to provide more information on rental-property participation and allowing time for resident input before the program is rebid. The city said the contract expires in March 2027 and residents would receive six months’ notice of changes.
