The City of Meridian Parks and Recreation Commission held its regular meeting on October 14, 2026. The commission adopted the agenda and approved the August and September minutes; neither vote concerned procurement. Parks Director Steve Sidaway reported that City Council approved the department’s FY2027 requests, including a new 15-passenger van, increased funding for the July 4 fireworks show, a tractor, operating funds to establish the Settlers Park expansion, pathway and median landscaping work, and several park and facility maintenance replacements. The pool’s gas water heater and kiddie-pool plaster are among the planned replacements. The new community center remains on schedule and on budget, with opening targeted for October 2027.

Staff also reported upcoming procurement activity: the Kleiner Park Pond shoring project is expected to go out to bid the following week; an RFQ for engineering and architectural services for the Ridenbach pedestrian crossing is being prepared; and the Linder Road Overpass project, a partnership with ACHD and ITD, is expected to go to bid this fall. Staff are pursuing easements for a westward extension of the Railroad Trail and continuing work on other pathway, park, and community-center projects. No procurement-related motion or award was made by the commission during this meeting.
