At its October 13, 2026 regular meeting, the Springdale City Council approved a resolution endorsing Tyson Poultry, Inc. for Arkansas’s Tax Back program in connection with modernization of its facility. The Chamber of Commerce said the project is expected to employ more than 1,600 people, with estimated annual payroll above $58 million; the eligible tax-back incentive applies to only a portion of the capital investment. The resolution passed 8–0. The council also approved an animal-shelter budget amendment accepting a Best Friends Animal Society grant for spay and neuter services (8–0), and authorized the purchase of new lounge chairs for the public library (7–1); amounts were not stated.

The council approved a professional-services contract with Freese and Nichols for a citywide 2D stormwater model at $89,800, following a qualifications-based selection process; the vote was 7–0, with one abstention. It also considered a resolution authorizing a construction contract for Rabbit Foot Trail Phase 2. Discussion noted that the work might not fit the current year’s budget and could be included in the next year’s trail budget; the vote outcome is unclear in the transcript. The council approved annual property-tax levies for Benton and Washington counties and cleanup-lien ordinances, including recovery of $637.56 plus a 10% collection fee for one property. The city announced that draft budget books would be available October 15, ahead of a full-day budget meeting.
