Regular meeting of the Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education, held October 20, 2026. The board approved moving forward with advertising and soliciting bids for flooring improvements at several elementary schools and Smith-Cotton Junior High, including specified hallways, cafeterias, classrooms, and gyms, as well as sealing the football and track locker-room floors. The junior-high work may be phased over two summers; the district expects to return with bid recommendations in December. The board also approved seeking bids for a concrete parking-lot/access-road project near Smith-Cotton High School, including space for visiting buses. No project costs were stated.
The board authorized an RFP for a new five-year student transportation contract because the district’s current agreement with First Student ends after the 2026–2027 school year. Administration expects to bring an award recommendation to the board around January; the motion was approved, with at least one opposing vote indicated in the transcript. Other financial information included a reported 14% year-over-year increase in September food-service costs and $163,107.30 in outstanding meal balances. The board also approved August 2026 MCE policy updates and a resolution concerning the state’s new A–F school grading system; no other procurement decisions were identified.
