The City of Green Bay Personnel Committee met on October 13, 2026. The committee approved a proposal to eliminate the city assessor position from the table of organization and pursue contracted assessment services, with potential savings of up to approximately $60,000 beginning in 2027. Staff said the city currently has one assessor and four full-time residential appraisers; Forward Appraisal, which has worked with the city for more than 20 years, already handles commercial assessments and provides related reporting and support. The city is leaning toward Forward Appraisal for the expanded contractual work, but the contract details had not been finalized. The assessor’s retirement timing was still under discussion, and staff said the four appraisers’ workload would not change under the proposal; they would report to a city manager with a possible dotted-line relationship to the contractor.
The committee also approved the final findings and conclusions for Green Bay firefighters’ grievance 2026-01; this was the concluding step in the grievance process and did not involve procurement. The agenda and prior minutes were approved, and the meeting was adjourned.
