The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board’s regular meeting on October 15, 2026 included a consent agenda that passed as a single motion. Procurement- and spending-related approvals included Louisiana Department of Treasury cooperative endeavor agreements for $50,000 in musical instruments and $35,000 each for safety/security or broadband enhancements at Northeast High and Northeast Elementary; a $100,000 school-safety grant for visitor-management systems, communications, signage, and cameras at two schools; and an amendment extending an LSU agreement for one year at $85,875. The board also approved a $301,000 professional-services contract with Great Minds for Eureka math curriculum professional development and $1,051,000 for early-childhood scholarships through agreements with listed providers. The consent agenda further authorized the superintendent to negotiate and execute contracts for high school experience initiative projects under state bid and procurement law, and approved a resolution authorizing the superintendent and deputy superintendent to sign contracts and binding agreements.
Other agenda items included approval of prior meeting minutes, receipt of the monthly financial report and personnel changes, and approval of policy revisions, including one concerning professional-services procurement. The superintendent reported 74 teacher vacancies, down from roughly 180–190 when a board member first joined, and credited salary increases and HR efforts. The meeting also recognized Woodside Energy and LSU Athletics for supporting a reading initiative that distributed more than 2,000 books; this was a community partnership, not a board contract award. No separate procurement votes were recorded beyond the consent-agenda motion.
