The Franklin County Board of Commissioners meeting on October 15, 2026, included discussion of the preliminary 2027 budget and election-equipment delivery. Fiscal staff reported the preliminary budget would use about $1.4 million in reserves, leaving a general-fund reserve balance of approximately $15.1 million. The commissioners indicated support for setting aside $2 million for supplemental funding, down from $2.5 million the prior year; staff will need to identify the funding. On election-equipment delivery, after bids had been opened and the previous company was no longer available, staff recommended an in-house approach using rented vehicles, county employees, and volunteers. Commissioners accepted the recommendation without a vote or specific cost being stated, and staff may discuss improving the process with the former provider for future elections.

Public comments raised concerns about a possible property reassessment, including estimates of $4–6 million for reassessment and additional legal costs, but the commissioners took no action on that issue. The consent agenda passed, and commissioners also approved a revised chief registrar job description. Other agenda items included a report on $7,224.12 raised by county employees for the United Way and a presentation on long-term-care resident rights. No contract award or vendor selection was made at this meeting.
