The City of Bothell Landmark Preservation Board’s October 14, 2026, meeting included approval of minutes from the September 9 regular meeting and June 22 special meeting. City staff provided required training on the Public Records Act, Open Public Meetings Act, and ethics. A Washington Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation representative also reviewed the Certified Local Government program, local landmark designation and design review, preservation incentives, and possible grant resources, including cemetery grants; no grant application, award, or spending decision was made.

Staff presented proposed updates to Bothell Municipal Code Title 22 for discussion, including reorganizing procedures, aligning the code with state law, and removing references to historic districts because none exist and current Council direction does not identify plans to establish one. Board members raised concerns about losing a framework for future historic districts and asked about the rationale and effects of the changes. Staff said feedback would be conveyed to the Planning Commission and City Council, with further review and public hearings still ahead; the board may revisit the draft in January 2027. No contracts, procurements, or budget allocations were identified.
