Alpena County Finance, Ways & Means Committee meeting — October 13, 2026. The committee approved payment of bills and third-quarter budget adjustments, and authorized several grant-related budget actions. These included a $2,714 adjustment for the Clean Sweep/material management grant; $1,275 for expert-witness fees and $6,500 for part-time prosecutor wages under a reimbursement grant; a $5,000 urgent-needs grant application for shelter-trailer supplies; and a $36,926 expenditure line for grant-funded critical-infrastructure indoor mapping, with invoices to be processed once the line was established. The committee also approved the Sheriff’s FY2027 DNR off-road vehicle enforcement grant for $15,000 with no county match and a $3,000 snowmobile enforcement grant with a 15% county match.

The committee approved opioid-settlement spending plans of $30,000 for Freedom Recovery, $95,000 for Sunrise Center, and $48,161.20 for Catholic Human Services. It approved FY2027–28 contractual attorney-fee adjustments reducing two individuals’ amounts from $4,400 to $4,200 each, and $2,280.49 for 76 road signs through the Houghton County Road Commission. Members also voted to list a surplus box truck for sale, with a 60-day sale period discussed and a status update expected, and considered including a decommissioned dive ambulance in the sale process.
