The Waupaca County Highway Committee met on September 17, 2026. It approved August vouchers totaling $1,560,283.27, noting substantial seasonal gravel and asphalt purchases. The committee approved a training day planned for October 5, with costs expected to remain below $2,000. It also authorized bidding this fall for the County Highway Q culvert replacement near Larson Road, using the existing $250,000 budget. The planned aluminum box culvert is approximately 15 feet 9 inches wide, 6 feet 9 inches high, and 44 feet long. For a deteriorated guardrail section near County Highway X and Broadway Street, members discussed an estimated replacement cost of about $80,000 and advanced the replacement effort, with design work being handled by Westwood Engineering under its existing master contract.

The committee approved proceeding with engineering and required documentation for a proposed Brooks Farms manure pipeline in the County Highway A right-of-way: approximately 15,000 feet of pipe intended to reduce manure-truck traffic. Approval is contingent on permitting, legal review, and agreements; no project cost was specified. Members discussed pressure testing, insurance and liability, installation timing alongside highway construction, and keeping pipeline fixtures outside the right-of-way where possible. The committee also approved changing a roughly 1.15-mile County Highway E project from a wedge-and-overlay treatment to full-depth reclaim, reshaping, and paving for an estimated $470,000, funded within the existing budget through project savings. Other updates included pending state and federal grant decisions and future highway projects, with no additional contract awards identified.
