At its August 27, 2026 meeting, the Waupaca County Board of Health reviewed the department’s proposed 2027 budget. The committee approved forwarding the budget to Finance. The presentation noted that 2027 revenue includes remaining funds from a state infrastructure grant that ends that year, while the 2028 budget will not include that amount. Contractual-services expenses are projected to fall 18%, largely because the state WIC program will contract and pay translators directly; operating expenses are projected to fall 32%. A significant home-visitation grant application is pending, with a decision expected by October, and could substantially change the budget. No contract award or vendor selection was made by the committee.
The committee discussed a proposed 4.5% increase to licensing fees, estimated to generate about $10,321, but deferred action until November pending comparisons with other counties and a broader review of fees. The discussion cited projected licensing-program revenue of about $225,500 against expenses of about $282,000. Other updates included recruitment for an environmental health specialist, ongoing office renovations, and monitoring a measles outbreak; no related procurement decisions were reported.
