Waupaca County Agriculture & Extension Committee meeting, July 28, 2026: The committee discussed moving UW Extension from its leased New London office to temporary space in the county courthouse in October, ahead of a later move to permanent courthouse space. The move is expected to save about $14,000 in rent; the DA’s office is arranging Spectrum Internet service, which will also be provided to the temporary space. No contract award or purchasing approval was recorded. The committee also heard that the Extension department’s budget included a $2,500 county match for an AmeriCorps summer position supported through a state-administered program.
The committee voted to support refilling the vacant Human Development and Relationships position, with a scoping session to identify community needs and existing services as part of the process. The position previously had 54% of its cost covered by the state and 46% by the county; its estimated full cost is just over $50,000. Staff cited approximately $29,000 in combined savings that could offset part of the expense. The hiring process will proceed through the state, with the proposal also expected to go through county Human Resources and Finance review. The committee additionally approved allowing Extension staff to set public office hours at their discretion, with closures posted for the public.
