The Waupaca County Public Property Committee met on October 8, 2026. The committee received an update on the courthouse modernization project: Phase 2 mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work and site improvements were underway, demolition of the parking area was completed by September 30, and asphalt top-coating is planned for spring. The project team reported that safety systems and temporary public-protection measures were in place and that the project contingency remained in good shape. No contract award or procurement vote was reported.
The committee also discussed a potential cell-tower lease on county-owned property near the highway shop. Verizon was identified as a possible initial tenant, but site and engineering checks, lease terms, revenue-sharing possibilities, and review of county and city zoning requirements remain outstanding; the matter may return for committee consideration next month. For the Law Enforcement Center’s aging HVAC system, the committee reviewed an engineering study by Apex Engineering, which favored an air-cooled chiller. Staff are continuing to develop options and a bid sheet, with the work discussed in connection with the 2027 budget; approximately $80,000–$86,000 was mentioned in relation to existing equipment work, but no final scope or award was made. The committee approved the prior meeting minutes; no spending-related motion or award was recorded.
