The Tosa Schools Finance and Resource Operations Committee met on September 16, 2026. Members approved the August 19 minutes. Staff reported 91.23% teacher retention, 99.02% of teaching positions filled, and current staffing and class-size figures. The committee also reviewed the unaudited 2025–26 financial position and audit timeline, noting that funds could be tracked separately for health and dental insurance. Members discussed upcoming property-tax levy scenarios, including the effect of potentially higher-than-estimated state aid and equalized property values. No levy decision was made; staff will bring clearer scenarios and estimated household tax impacts to the full board for its October decision.
The committee reviewed district grounds treatments under policies 7410, 7430, and 8405. Staff described two annual pesticide/herbicide applications and related safety practices; members requested that the contracted vendor provide chemical safety documentation and considered inviting the vendor to a future meeting. No contract award or new spending authorization was recorded. Members also continued discussion of the North and 76th Street construction project, with the district seeking clarification from the city about financial commitments if Longfellow’s future use changes. The finance report noted a previously purchased vehicle and a delayed invoice of about $14,000, but no new purchasing action was taken.
