Waupaca County Highway Committee meeting, August 20, 2026: The committee approved June payment vouchers totaling $761,413.91 and July vouchers of approximately $1.86 million, with fuel purchases and delivery of two truck chassis noted among the July expenses. It approved soliciting qualifications for engineering services on County Highway X from State Highway 110 to Lost Road; design costs were estimated at $262,000, with much of the cost expected to be covered by an STP rural grant. The committee also approved equipment packages for two lift-gate trucks through Sourcewell, priced at $26,455 and $34,916, and chassis obtained through a separate bid process; the combined truck and equipment purchases were described as just under $200,000.

The committee reviewed and approved a five-year road project plan, while noting that grant awards and project timing may change. For the Highway X construction project, planned for 2029, the estimated cost was about $3.04 million, with more than $2.4 million in STP rural funding and approximately $607,000 in county costs. The 2027 maintenance budget was approved at the same level as 2026, with the final funding figure dependent on state aid and levy decisions. The committee renewed service agreements with Calonia, Dayton, and DuPont, but voted not to renew St. Lawrence’s agreement after reviewing its limited recent work with the county and its use of competitive bids. A proposed privately funded manure pipeline in the County Road A right-of-way was discussed but not approved; staff will seek engineering details and bring it back for further consideration.
