The August 17, 2026 joint meeting of the Sun Prairie City Council and Sun Prairie Area School District Board focused on existing and potential city-district partnerships. Presenters described the shared employee wellness clinic, reporting annual returns on investment of more than $300,000 and single-digit health-plan rate caps; library expansions; sustainability projects, including a USDA-funded composting pilot; and EV charger planning, with locations selected but chargers not yet built. The city also described its no-cost acquisition of approximately 250-acre Patrick Marsh, which is now a city park, and the possibility of future trail and access improvements. No contracts, bids, vendor selections, or spending approvals were presented or voted on.
A school board presenter discussed the district’s estimated $1.5 million in annual funds going to private schools through voucher programs and proposed adding voucher-related amounts to property tax bills. City Council support through a resolution would be needed to pursue that change; several officials expressed interest, but no resolution or other action was taken. Members also raised the failed school referendum and the potential effect on shared programs, but did not discuss specific cuts or take action. The only recorded motion was to adjourn.
