The Chippewa County Board’s September 8, 2026 regular meeting included an update that the county’s previously authorized bonds were sold on September 3 at a final interest rate of 3.76%, within the approved parameters; no bond amount was stated. The 2025 audit reported a $3.5 million increase in the general fund, including because budgeted courthouse upgrades did not take place during the year. The audit also noted $10.2 million in county sales tax transfers, including $6 million to the general fund and about $2.1 million for highway purposes. No contract awards, RFPs, or purchasing approvals were identified.

The board voted 19–0 to accept the ad hoc EMS study committee’s report and direct the county administrator to develop an implementation plan for further consideration. The administrator estimated a full-time EMS coordinator could cost about $150,000 annually, but said no EMS levy or position was planned for the 2027 budget pending discussions with municipalities. The meeting also included a presentation on regional business financing, including an $85,000 loan to Loop Suppliers and a projected 2027 county membership fee of $48,785. The board approved the county treasurer appointment and Board of Adjustment appointments; proposed HR policy revisions were presented for a first reading with no vote.
