⚡ Energy & Utilities 🏗️ Construction & Infrastructure Grants & Funding Physical Infrastructure

The Ann Arbor Sustainability Commission meeting was held October 13, 2026. The main procurement-related update concerned the Bryant neighborhood decarbonization project: the City received approximately $3.2 million from the Michigan Public Service Commission for home repairs, efficiency, and electrification, while Community Action Network received two related grants from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority. Grant funds are also supporting the Sustainable Energy Utility’s pilot solar installations, with about 90 households signed up and more than 34 systems installed or underway toward a 100-system goal in 2026. Residents are offered the service at $600 per year. The City is preparing a request for proposals for the next phase of a district geothermal project, following a nearly $600,000 Department of Energy grant for design; bids are expected to inform the project’s cost and implementation path. No contract awards or procurement votes were reported. Staff also reported a $10,000 Sustaining Ann Arbor Together grant for the Gretchen House Foundation teacher thrift hub.

A staff presentation on the stormwater comprehensive plan described a proposed framework for future infrastructure needs and investments, including integration with the City’s capital improvement and rehabilitation plans; recommendations are not yet implemented, and the final plan was expected within about two weeks. The Commission also reviewed its final legislative recommendations, discussed work groups and sustainability resources, and received updates on composting and the circular economy map. The agenda and September meeting minutes were approved unanimously; no other spending-related motions or votes were identified.
