Planning and Zoning -10-20-2026

The Milford Planning and Zoning Board met on October 20, 2026. It unanimously approved an application under CGS § 8-24 for a fixed galvanized-steel awning at 3436 Naugatuck Avenue, extending over the public right-of-way. The awning is proposed to be 8 feet 6 inches above the sidewalk, with sides measuring 21 and 24 feet; the Board of Aldermen will make the final decision on the application.

The Board also unanimously approved a proposed zoning text amendment for residential lots abutting Long Island Sound. As amended during the hearing, it limits the building envelope to no more than 90 feet from the front property line, street edge, or public right-of-way, and applies to principal buildings, accessory buildings, and accessory structures. Members discussed shoreline accretion, potential effects on development and rebuilding, and unintended consequences. No procurement, contract awards, or spending decisions were identified.
