At the October 13, 2026, Queen Anne’s County Commissioners meeting, the commissioners approved several procurement and capital actions. They awarded a federally grant-funded transportation safety action plan to Kimley-Horn for $265,640, with one commissioner opposed; authorized $324,370 to BRS Consulting for Emergency Services Station 400 renovations; and conditionally awarded the Centreville-area wastewater treatment plant improvements to Johnson Construction Company for $5,148,161, contingent on securing approximately $1.739 million in additional funding and required approvals. They also approved $39,856 in wetland mitigation credits from Maple Dam Conservation Wetlands Mitigation Bank for South Island Trail Phase 4, a $50,000 fireworks contract with Starfire Corporation plus $10,000 for fireworks in three towns, an audit engagement with UHY LLP capped at $85,000, and a $318,214 deck-renovation contract for Fisher Manor to RRH Associates. Other approved financial actions included a $19,954 development-review-fee reimbursement to KRM Development Corporation for a project representing about $12 million in capital investment, and a contribution of up to $1,899,639 toward the Queen Anne’s Tech Center construction at Chesapeake College. The commissioners also approved a letter requesting FY28 state budget allocations for county projects, including detention-center, well, and intersection-safety needs, and approved budget amendments and the FY28 budget schedule.
The board adopted Ordinance 26-16, raising the high-school Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance capacity threshold from 100% to 110% of state-rated capacity. The health officer also briefed commissioners on rural-health transformation planning and prospective mobile-health and nutrition initiatives; funding approvals for mobile programming were still pending. No contracts or purchases were identified in that presentation. Commissioners appointed Dan Worth to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee and heard public comments about county parks and community events.
