The McHenry County Technical Advisory Committee’s public meeting on October 14, 2026, focused primarily on technical review of proposed stormwater ordinance changes. Members discussed analyses comparing current detention requirements with a proposed release-rate method, including how undisturbed areas, impervious surfaces, curve numbers, and stormwater best management practices could affect runoff and detention volumes. No ordinance change was adopted. Staff will prepare additional, more complete scenarios for review; the chair indicated a goal of bringing a finalized proposal to committee for approval around June or July 2027. The committee also discussed maintenance plans and long-term monitoring for native vegetation and other stormwater practices, including possible roles for municipalities, the county, and the Soil and Water Conservation District. Staff reported that rational-method analysis had limitations and noted that outside software development or a consultant could be considered, but no procurement or spending decision was made.

The committee approved the September 9 meeting minutes and voted to cancel its November meeting; the next meeting was scheduled for December 9. Members also heard an update on the September water-sustainability forum and plans for a 2027 best-management-practices tour. No contracts, vendor selections, bid approvals, or budget allocations were identified.
