At its October 14, 2026 regular meeting, the Monongalia County Commission approved the 2027 individual-coverage health reimbursement allowance strategy. The county administrator described healthcare costs as increasing 18%, an estimated $1 million increase; commissioners said employees’ share of that increase would rise 1.7% while the county covers 98.3%. The commission also approved reimbursement requests under four grants totaling $33,395.95 and approved Requisition No. 119 for $1,442,373.97 in September sales-tax receipts for the University Town Center Economic Opportunity Development District. It accepted the annual tax increment financing report prepared by contracted firm Steto and Johnson. No new vendor award or competitive procurement was announced.

Public commenters urged the commission to cancel its Flock camera network contract, citing searches by thousands of outside organizations, privacy concerns, and prior spending described as over six figures. The commission took no action on the contract. The commission also received an update on the Comcast broadband project, which is using remaining ARPA funds and was expected to add more than 700 household passings that month; no new procurement action was taken. Correspondence included notice of a federal transportation discretionary grant program, and the commission approved a personnel item and letters supporting specialty physician placements, neither of which involved a procurement award.
