The City of Wausau Finance Committee met on October 13, 2026. Public commenters urged the city not to renew its Flock ALPR camera contract, citing privacy and legal concerns and estimating savings of about $100,000; one speaker referenced a $50,000 payment due in December. They also proposed requiring a public hearing and council vote before future surveillance-technology acquisitions. The committee took no recorded action on the Flock contract. The committee approved a third amendment to the Community Infrastructure Partners agreement for the 2027–28 lead service line replacement project, contingent on DNR funding, and approved a second amendment to the Marathon County Health Department lead-hazard reduction grant agreement. The grant amendment adds monitoring and auditing provisions and allows grant-funded purchase and use of an XRF lead-paint testing machine; the first abatement project was out for bid. A resolution allowing reimbursement of eligible drinking-water project expenditures from anticipated loan proceeds was also approved.
