The City of Grand Rapids Mobile GR Commission met on October 14, 2026. The commission discussed priorities for its November 4 workshop, including connected and protected bike lanes, pedestrian safety, transit connections, traffic calming, project updates, and data to guide future recommendations. Members raised the possibility of recommending additional traffic-safety funding or staff positions and advocating that a portion of increased state road funding—described as approximately $10 million received last year—support mobility priorities. These were discussion items, not spending decisions. A resident also asked the city to address recurring vehicle crashes on East Castle Drive; a commissioner requested follow-up on the issue.
Members discussed the city’s micromobility provider VO, including sidewalk riding, geofencing technology, access programs, fleet deployment, and the availability of three-wheeled vehicles. Staff noted that provider contracts include requirements and enforcement mechanisms, and described procurement as the process used to shape the city’s micromobility program; the transcript does not identify a new award, contract amount, or vote on a procurement action. The commission approved the August and September minutes, appointed Commissioner Pulka as its representative to the Mobility Blueprint Technical Advisory Committee, and approved its 2027 meeting dates. The planned Acroair Amphitheater 2026 season recap and Amway Stadium planning update was postponed because the presenter was absent.
