At its regular City Council meeting on October 13, 2026, the City of Tucker approved four contracts for safety improvements at US 78 and Mountain Industrial Boulevard. The work, estimated at nearly $11 million overall, includes a Georgia Department of Transportation agreement reimbursing the city up to $7.5 million; a construction award to CMES for a bid of $8,378,788.82, with a 5% contingency bringing the purchase order to $8,797,728.26; construction engineering and inspection services from Low Engineers for $1,057,429; and an amended agreement with the Tucker Summit CID, which will contribute up to $1,187,579 toward construction and inspection. The project will realign interchange ramps, improve signals, and add medians to address safety concerns; construction is expected to take about two years after startup. Council also approved a resolution authorizing a pre-application for Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program funding for Henderson Park improvements: a request of $1.26 million with an estimated city match of $420,000, for a total project of $1.68 million. This authorizes the application process, not a final grant award.

Council approved a second-reading amendment to Chapter 14 assigning the city’s Public Works Department responsibility for specified MS4 requirements previously assigned to DeKalb County. A Chapter 22 land-development-code amendment, including related stormwater updates and general code corrections, received a first reading and will return for a vote. A proposed termination of a prior special land-use permit for the Novel Tucker development also received a first reading and public hearing, with no vote at this meeting. The Tucker Summit CID additionally asked the city to consider budgeting for a second phase of its lighting project, but no action was taken on that request.
