The City of Redmond City Council held a special joint meeting with the Parks, Trails, and Recreation Commission on October 13, 2026. The commission presented updates and priorities for park signage and wayfinding, the East Redmond Corridor (ERC), and toddler-focused play infrastructure. For signage, the commission said the $500,000 currently budgeted would not fund a comprehensive refresh and urged support for implementing the city’s standards, additional staff and monitoring resources, and coordination with regional partners. The city had engaged Tool Design to develop the signage standards and strategy; no new contract award was discussed.

For the ERC, the commission described a roughly 20-year implementation plan estimated at $95 million and urged the council to increase and advance funding. The original request of $2.7 million was reduced to $1.4 million, while the current CIP proposal is $680,000, unavailable until 2032. Commissioners also requested a multi-year funding strategy and professional-services funding for engineering support and coordination with King County. Council members expressed support for the projects and said CIP and budget discussions would continue at upcoming meetings; no motions or votes were reported. The meeting also covered youth involvement in the future teen center, park maintenance, fitness programming, and community engagement.
