Cleveland City Council’s Workforce, Education, Training and Youth Development Committee met on October 13, 2026, and approved three ordinances. Ordinance 745-2026 authorizes an agreement with Premier EMS Training Academy to provide ride-along and training opportunities, with the goal of supporting employees’ paramedic training and building an EMS workforce pipeline. Ordinance 748-2026 authorizes one or more contracts with Ohio City Incorporated for family and youth recreation programming, continuing existing support with $100,000 from the city’s general fund. The program serves youth and families across eight Near West Side neighborhoods.
The committee also approved Ordinance 911-2026, authorizing the city to apply for and accept a Cleveland Guardians Charities grant of up to $80,000 for youth baseball and softball costs, including uniforms, equipment, and umpire services; no city match is required. As amended, the ordinance requires the Parks and Recreation director to notify the Council Clerk in writing whenever a purchase is made through the cooperative process, including details of the purchase. A council member and the committee chair also agreed to work with Parks and Recreation staff on possible councilmanic funding for a neighborhood baseball program.
