At its October 13, 2026 business meeting, the Klamath County Board of County Commissioners approved a $898,571 agreement with Kittelson & Associates (name as heard in the transcript) for design of three road intersections: Shasta/Summers Lane, Harland/Homedale, and Shasta/Homedale. The work was selected through an RFP process and funded from the road department’s federal budget; construction is anticipated to cost an additional $4–6 million in the future, but was not approved at this meeting. The board also approved a juvenile department copier maintenance agreement for $4,859.80 after the department compared four quotes and selected a Ricoh machine, and an agreement to place a permanent ballot drop box at South Suburban Sanitary District for approximately $3,500, to be reimbursed by the Oregon Secretary of State.
Other approved funding and contract actions included a Lane County food-handler training and testing agreement expected to generate $22,000 in revenue; an Oregon Health Authority public-health agreement amendment adjusting program funding, including $57,775.36 for emergency preparedness and $60,560.75 for administration of CBO mini-grants; and a $286,500 second-year Victims of Crime Act grant award for the District Attorney’s Office. The board approved extensions through September 30, 2029, for five Title III grants serving local fire, search-and-rescue, and Running Y Ranch projects, with no additional fiscal impact, and extended the Klamath Casket economic-development grant to May 2027, also with no fiscal impact. It also approved a county-property utility easement for South Suburban Sanitary District with no fiscal impact. No procurement action was identified in the public comments, which focused mainly on voter-roll concerns and local agricultural conditions.
