A $75,000 contribution to the Medina Metropolitan Housing Authority’s 2027 Next Up Shelter operations was approved, with $25,000 from opioid funds and $50,000 from the general fund contingent on contributions from other communities and the county. Other approvals included easements for Columbia Gas to relocate lines for the North Huntington Street reconstruction project, 2026 budget amendments, and a fund advance for a cemetery columbarium wall to be repaid through sales of niches.
The Parks and Recreation Director reported that an RFQ for Jump Playground design services is open. The mayor also reported completed Lake Medina improvements funded by a state capital improvement grant, and the Uptown Loop trail extension, funded by a $398,600 state capital budget grant and $81,400 from the city. Finance requests listed bids for East Smith Road reconstruction and a 2026 F-250 purchase for the water department, but no action on those items appears in the transcript. Residents raised concerns about pedestrian safety and traffic around the Square; council said it is working on potential responses.
