The City of Monterey Planning Commission met on October 13, 2026. The Commission approved a recommendation that the City Council find the amended FY 2026–27 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) consistent with applicable city plans, superseding Planning Commission Resolution P26-15. The amendment adds the North Fremont Gap Closure project, a roughly 130-foot prefabricated pedestrian and bicycle bridge with sidewalk and trail approaches between Casanova Avenue and Canyon Del Rey Boulevard. Public Works recently received a grant to fund the project; no project cost was provided, with an approximate budget expected at the October 20 City Council meeting. The recommendation passed, and no contract award or vendor selection was discussed.

The Commission also unanimously approved variance and architectural review applications for solar carports, rooftop solar, and battery storage at an existing medical office at 23 Upper Ragsdale Drive. The applicant described a $1.2 million loan and about $650,000 in equipment purchases, which are private project costs rather than city procurement. The remaining business included approval of prior meeting minutes and notice of tentative items for the October 27 agenda.
