Leelanau County Board of Commissioners regular session, October 14, 2026. The board approved a request for proposals for an executive search firm to recruit a permanent county administrator, with the interim administrator to coordinate an implementation timeline with corporation counsel; the schedule anticipates proposals returning for board review and a possible selection by March. No firm was selected at this meeting. The county administrator also reported ongoing ERP/financial-software demonstrations, with findings to be presented at a future meeting. The board approved changing the assistant finance director’s workweek from 35 to 40 hours and amending the 2026 non-union wage schedule, effective October 14, and approved $15,000 in MAC membership dues. Claims and accounts totaling $459,934.20 were also approved.
The board authorized preparation of winter 2026 2% allocation applications, including $17,476.84 for a Northwest Regional Medical Control Authority radio project, $83,100 for senior services, and $9,800 for Inland Seas Education Association exposure suits; the latter two measures passed 4–2. Discussion of a parks ADA ramp raised concerns about project readiness and cost, and no approval was clearly recorded. Drain-district discussion addressed disputed project billing and the county’s limited authority to use general-fund money for district costs; the board voted to release an attorney-client legal opinion. These 2% applications are requests for funding, not final awards by the county.
