At the October 13, 2026 Rohnert Park City Council meeting, the council approved the consent calendar, including a $344,000 consultant contract for downtown project planning and application review; staff said the developer, CenterCal, will reimburse those costs under the city’s agreement. A council member also cited a $134,000 community investment in tennis-court improvements. The council received an informational update on CenterCal’s downtown application, proposing more than 160,000 square feet of commercial and retail space, 401 homes (including 100 affordable units), a 128-room hotel, and a public plaza; no action was taken on the project application.
The council considered, but did not approve, the water meter replacement and advanced metering infrastructure project (CIP 19-18). The proposed package included a $1,760,351.50 construction contract with DB Utility LLC, a $4,523,078.92 purchase order with Badger Meter, $339,808 in construction-management and inspection services from MeterSys LLC, and up to $528,105.45 in change-order authority. Members and public speakers raised concerns about the low bid, labor-compliance questions, and the 30% contingency, while staff discussed project timing and water-loss reporting requirements. After a motion to approve was made and seconded, the council voted to defer consideration to October 27 for further review. Other meeting topics included proclamations, community events, voter resources, public comments about flood preparedness, and cancellation of the November 24 and December 22 meetings.
