The Washoe County School District Board of Trustees’ regular meeting on October 13, 2026 included several procurement and capital decisions. The board unanimously approved a one-year districtwide OnBase hosted document-management system maintenance renewal with Navviant for $380,122.66, running November 1, 2026 through October 31, 2027. It also unanimously approved $8.5 million for design-phase funding for the Sparks High School modernization; staff said a CMAR solicitation was being prepared, with community input planned as design advances. The board approved $46,457,220 in major-project funding and a purchase-and-sale agreement for properties at 5250 South Virginia Street and an adjacent parcel, directing the superintendent to complete due diligence and close escrow if the properties clear it. Staff described the acquisition as part of a plan to consolidate administrative offices and develop additional space, with future renovation and construction costs still to be developed.

The board also unanimously adopted Bond Resolution 26-021, authorizing up to $164 million in 2026C school-improvement bonds. Proceeds are intended to fund the previously approved $50 million FY 2026–27 capital renewal plan, a $92.9 million elementary school at the current Pine Middle School site (planned as Smith Ridge), and the administrative-facility project. Staff said the financing plan would use $25 million in cash reserves and anticipated proceeds from selling the current Ninth Street property to limit debt financing and preserve capacity for school projects. Public commenters raised concerns about prioritizing administrative facilities amid school and playground needs; trustees and staff said school improvements remain a priority. The meeting also included discussion of school-police services and Safe Routes to School funding, but no related procurement vote was recorded.
