The City of Coppell City Council’s regular meeting on October 13, 2026, included procurement and capital-project updates. Council approved the Council Chambers remodel through the consent agenda. In work session, staff explained that auditorium seating was ordered directly from the manufacturer, outside the general contractor’s award, to avoid a long manufacturing delay: the order was placed before an October 6 cutoff, contingent on council approval, to target delivery in late January or early February. The general contractor remains responsible for installation. No dollar amount was stated. Staff also reported progress on the Royal Lane reconstruction, Justice Center remodel, and Fire Station 3 construction; no new contract awards or project amounts were reported for those projects.
Council approved zoning text amendments addressing temporary concrete batch plants and data centers and cryptocurrency-mining facilities. The amendments limit temporary batch plants to one six-month permit per property within an 18-month period, and require special use permits for data centers and cryptocurrency-mining facilities in light-industrial districts; council added prime power generators to the data-center definition’s list of infrastructure. Staff will bring back the ordinance at the October 27 meeting. In work session, council also directed staff to continue with a non-park facility-naming policy, rather than an ordinance, with terminology updated from “building” to “facility” and a five-of-seven vote required for revocation. This was direction on policy, not a formal approval vote.
