The City of Juneau Common Council meeting on October 13, 2026, approved payment of $283,995.31 in electronic bills and adopted capital spending resolutions using general-obligation debt funds. Approved 2024-funded items included fire equipment and protective gear, a squad-car computer, handgun sight upgrades, City Hall lobby flooring and cameras, and a $238,076.75 ambulance installment. The council also approved 2027 debt funding for a $4,668 library parking lot project and a final ambulance payment, with the amount to be determined. A proposed $781,950 North Highland/Midway/East Street reconstruction was mentioned but appears not to have been included in the approved items. Other adopted financial measures covered the 2027 fee schedule, employee and EMS wage changes, health-plan contributions, EMS fees, and a 2026 library budget amendment.
The council gave a first reading to an ordinance revising right-of-way excavation rules, prompted in part by a communications company considering entry into the community; the measure would regulate facility placement and excavation and address related city costs. The Utility Commission reported that it is seeking proposals from engineering firms to assess rehabilitation of a city well, with direction to proceed toward securing the service by the start of the year. No engineering firm or contract amount was selected at this meeting.
