Williamson County Board regular meeting, October 13, 2026. Facilities and capital work included a report that the jail water-heater project was complete and that an oil-separator project for the jail chiller was awaiting cooler weather. The board discussed possible courtroom seating and flooring replacements, with preliminary estimates ranging from $200 to $500 per linear foot and a planning estimate of $350; no purchase or award was approved. A veterans-services report noted remaining capital-improvement grant funds and potential purchases of tables and chairs, but no spending action was taken. The board also considered a proposed solar project from Summit Ridge Energy for Johnson City Illinois 1 LLC. The applicant cited a proposed decommissioning bond of just under $250,000 and a separate $50,000 road-use bond. The board deferred action pending a third-party review of the decommissioning estimate and review of the road-use agreement; the applicant may return at a subsequent meeting.

The new Shawnee National Forest supervisor presented a draft, described as nonbinding and involving no immediate exchange of funds, for possible county collaboration on roads and other projects. Board members requested a completed draft and further review before considering a signature; any future work and funding would require separate agreements. During public comment, a resident asked the county to examine its authority to regulate data centers, including water use, power infrastructure, and noise; no action was taken. The board passed resolutions supporting continued operation of the Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center and addressing retiree health-insurance benefits, and approved an ordinance changing Sunday alcohol-service hours. No procurement contract was awarded at the meeting.
