The Muscogee County School District Board of Education held a work session on October 13, 2026. Construction and purchasing items were presented for consideration, with several approvals scheduled for a later board meeting; no procurement awards were voted on during this session. The board reviewed a proposed architect contract with Neil, Kinnust & Murray, P.C., for evaluation, design, and oversight of painting and minor renovations at seven schools; the fee is expected to be about 5% of the eventual guaranteed maximum price, which has not yet been established. Other construction items included a site application for the Double Churches School project, a construction-manager-at-risk delivery method for summer 2027 painting, and selection of Sheridan Construction to oversee the Hardaway High School rear-entry drive upgrade. The construction report cited project budgets including $7.47 million for Kannett Stadium upgrades, $5.49 million for painting and renovations, $2.13 million for auditorium upgrades, and $1.77 million for the Blackmon Road Middle School roof. The district also proposed declaring a forklift and approximately 18 buses surplus for disposal by bid, auction, donation, or sale, with proceeds going to the general fund.
Finance items included a $726,028.79 Microsoft licensing request; Apex Digital licensing renewal of about $98,000; a $58,869.23 Proximity Learning increase, bringing cumulative spending on that service to about $1.3 million; a $56,086.49 warehouse forklift purchase from Crown Lift Truck; and a Whitfield LLC purchase not to exceed $80,000. Other presented purchases included renewals for CBM Solutions (up to $100,000) and Concourse Technologies ($41,554.80), professional services up to $25,000 for an external evaluation, musical instruments up to $115,000, Microsoft support ($109,497.93), computers ($39,762), and fuel ($135,892.49). The board requested clearer bid/source information for purchases using cooperative contracts and a breakdown of federal grant carryover versus new allocations. The session also reviewed Jordan Career Academy’s workforce partnerships and the 2026–27 magnet enrollment process, including revised selection criteria and a 72-hour acceptance window. These were informational or proposed actions; the only motion recorded was to enter executive session for security and personnel matters.
